Help Ribble FM go LIVE across the Ribble Valley on FM from July 2016
Ribble FM was launched on the internet and on smart phone apps almost a year ago. Ofcom granted the licence to Broadcast on FM in July 2014 giving us 2 years to get on-air with community backing. We have until July 2016. Please consider making a donation to our page.
To provide a truly local community radio service to the Ribble Valley, reflecting the personality and unique character of this area.
Offer a platform and voice for the many community organisations within the Ribble Valley.
To overcome rural isolation.
To provide training for volunteers.
Why we need you help
We are looking to get Ribble FM to the airwaves by 10th July 2016 or we could lose the licence and the chance for the Ribble Valley to have its own radio station. We have been working toward this goal since the project began. We have the FM licence. We have been donated premises to operate from via The Grand in Citheroe. We have been donated a Sponsor car via Bowker Mini. We have some funding but need more! We have the site to transmit from. We have the broadcast equipment. We now need YOUR help to take the final step building the studio and installing the antenna to broadcast across the Valley.
About Ribble FM
Ribble FM is a not-for-profit community interest company; the volunteer team have been working tirelessly to bring a true Community Radio Station to the Ribble Valley for the last 2 years. All presenters will be volunteers from all corners of the community - each of whom bring their own style and personality to the station. Programming reflects the diversity of interests in what is a unique area, with everything from pop to poetry, reggae to rock, jazz & soul and everything across the decades in-between to suit everyone.
The station will support, and has already built strong links with, other community groups, offering them a perfect platform for promotion. We have relationships with local schools, sports clubs and charities too.
Ribble FM will also bringing great benefits to the volunteers; as well as the camaraderie amongst the team, volunteers will see positive benefits to self-esteem, confidence and employability following training and experience.
* Please note if we did not get on FM - we will still go live on-line and we will still have the studio to build etc. Rewards will still be recognised on-line and we will still host a launch party*
Ribble FM will truly be the "Voice of the Valley".
