Launcelot Primary school is a Lewisham school and due to our demographic and the recent pandemic the number of Pupil Premium children has increased dramatically. We also have children and families who do not fit into the Pupil Premium category, we have been working with the local community to help support these families.
As a school, we have previously been able to subsidise the year 6 residential trip for all children, even with this reduction some parents could still not afford the remaining balance. Additionally we have been able to reduce the cost for Pupil Premium children.
With less funding available to schools we are finding it harder to support funding for residential trips for the children and staff.
Without the school being able to find the funding to subsidise residential trips we know our children will not be able to attend or experience an event like this.
With the funds that we raise we will be able to give our children and families, who have limited experience beyond home and school, the opportunity to experience a residential school trip. The children will learn experiences and values of working in a team with friends, teachers and professional instructors. There will be challenges in the air and on the ground. There will be will evenings and nights of campfires and songs.
As a school we feel that this is something that all children should have the opportunity to experience.
