'Generation Plymouth' will be a local news website, run by and for young people in Plymouth.

Generation Plymouth will be a news website run by and for youth in Plymouth. It will encourage young people to get involved as contributors to the site and help with social media accounts for the site. The project will also encourage Plymouth young people to engage with local news.

Generation Plymouth will address two needs in my local community. The first will be giving young people with an interest in journalism, writing and the arts the chance to gain valuable work experience in this field. I have found that Plymouth does not have many opportunities to develop skills and gain experience in this field, with most similar opportunities for young people being based in London.

The second need that this project will address is making news more accessible to young people in Plymouth. There are only a few local news publications and websites here, with none specifically aimed at young people. I think it is important to engage young people with their local communities and what's going on in the world around them.

I will use the money I raise through Crowdfunder to create the website, advertise to and contact young people who would potentially be interested in writing for the site and promoting the site to readers via social media.
