I am opening a grocery shop in the heart of Whitehaven. I will work with local producers, We will sell cheese, bread, coffee, wine, beer, seasonal fruit and vegetables, and lots of store cupboard essentials.
I will work with producers and suppliers who focus on the quality, integrity and provenance of their produce.
I will also work with local farms and buy their products from them to sell their range of “wonky” and surplus fruit and vegetables, which would help to fight waste on farms by sourcing slightly imperfect but just as delicious produce for a fair price directly from farms around Cumbria.
In an age where high streets are dying, I want to create a place which allows people to come together and socialise in a more personable atmosphere than the average big supermarket, and also be able to show off the amazing range of Cumbrian products which are available but are rarely seen in chain supermarkets.
I’m asking for £5,000 which will cover some rent on a small shop on the main high street in Whitehaven, kit it out with the equipment I need and buy in some stock. I can not afford to do this without the crowd funding so this is an all or nothing plea to start something special in your community.
I have gifts based on the size of pledge you can make. By even the smallest amount would help us on this journey.
