As someone who has seen first hand what a gambling addiction can do to a person, it infuriates me that there are SO MANY adverts on the television.
Every sport program is sponsored by a betting firm, every advert break has some sort of gambling advert in it.
Late night television is littered with bingo adverts and free spins here there and everywhere.
It's time this is put to bed. Enough. The gambling firms seem to do whatever they want and I want to start a movement to make a stand.
I don't want to ban gambling, far from it. I just think it's time that gambling was put in the same health bracket as smoking. Personal debt is a great reason for mental depression, anxiety and stress. We can only imagine what it's like for a gambling addict when the advert breaks come on and they're flooded with "lads" gambling in the pub.
I want to make a change and we can do this together. I'm trying to raise funds to make it possible for m to back up my hopes with action. I am planning on lobbying to the government with petitions and approach the TV companies to try to get them to see the damage that gambling can cause.
I'll need funds to cover costs printer supplies, web server running fees and possible legal costs.
Help me to cut this out of our everyday life.
