Galaxy Arts Day Service

Unfortunately this project was not successful.

The aim of the project is for adults with learning disabilities to increase engagement and participation in the arts.

I originally came from an arts and media background where I volunteered and worked for a variety of arts and media based businesses. I have also worked in the health and social care sector for many years which included working with adults with learning disabilities. As I have enjoyed working in both sectors, I want to create a business that will merge the two sectors together to have a positive impact on the community.

The idea is to have a day service for adults with learning disabilities aged 18 plus to have a place where they can have the opportunity to be creative, explore different art forms, socialise and express their individuality through the use of the arts, including drama, dance music and arts and crafts.

I will use the money raised to purchase materials needed for the various art forms such as, costumes, instruments and books. It will also be used to pay for the running costs such as venue hire, insurance and also relevant training certificates such as health and safety, working with vulnerable adults and first aid.
