We aim to enhance and make our student radio station even better with help from others!

by James Slater in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, United Kingdom

Hi, I'm James. I am the current Station Manager of FZN Radio. We are a small, student radio station based inside Northumbria Students' Union in Newcastle. We launched on 5th August 2019 and we are already working hard to make great content to share with the student community and beyond. We want to keep things local by making radio content that matters to our listeners.

We currently rely on the money the Students Union gives us to cover the running costs of the station, which are high as we have to pay for licences and software. We then depend on donations and fundraising to help our volunteers access new equipment and keep the studio up to date with the latest technology.

Any money raised we will use to enhance our studio environment and give the radio volunteers a chance to learn, grow and develop their skills so they can make great radio, and then hopefully go onto successful careers in the industry in the future.

All donations are greatly appreciated and as this is a new project, will help us make FZN Radio into a great place for students to learn, but also a powerful arts platform for the local community of Northumbria and Newcastle.

Anyone in higher or further education (college, sixth form or university) in the area can become a member of the station and volunteer, opening this project to the local area and not just Northumbria students!
