Calum Baird is a musician and singer-songwriter from Edinburgh, Scotland. He has been performing around Scotland and the UK for the last four years, and this year has made his way into the European circuit playing at a host of events and festivals from Dublin to Berlin.
On July 22nd, Fiesta de solidaridad de Cuba takes place in Berlin, and Calum has been invited out to perform. However, he needs help finding the costs for flights and accommodation. The flights alone cost around £250, but going through Expedia brings the costs down to £200, with an extra £100 required to get Calum's guitar on the plane with him.
Cuba is a progressive, socialist island in the Caribbean. It suffers from one of the worst economic blockades in history devised and maintained by every US administration since 1961 to literally starve the country. Yet, despite this, the country has achieved remarkable feats in the areas of healthcare, education, culture and LGBT rights. This is why many progressives, including Calum, want to support Cuba, support its right to self-determination as a socialist island and to show solidarity with the island and its people in the U.K. and abroad.
Calum has supported numerous Cuba solidarity campaign events in Scotland, and he is the only Scotsman to be invited out to the event Berlin to show solidarity with the country. He hopes you will consider donating and thanks those of you who do so.
Hasta la victoria siempre!
