Hi I am Marilena and I have been qualified for over 20 years working as Adult Registered Nurse for NHS in various wards and departments including trauma and orthopaedic, urology, general surgical assessment unit, Accident and Emergency (All areas Minors, Majors and Resuscitation), Acute Medical Assessment Unit, General Medicine, Medicine for elderly and operating theatres.

I work in A&E departments at Mid and South Essex Hospitals (Broomfield Hospital and Southend Hospital)

I would like to undertake this CPD module titled Non-Medical Prescribing because upon successful completion I will be able to assist any patient coming through A&E & assessed by me when I am working my shifts to be promptly assessed and if within my knowledge and expertise as an experienced, advanced nurse practitioner to prescribe the relevant medication for example patient is in pain - I will be able to prescribe appropriate painkillers, or the patient has urinary infection I will be able to prescribe the relevant antibiotics as per the latest guidelines.

I used my savings of £2,000 to pay for the tuition fees for the first CPD module Consultation and Assessment Skills with the University of Essex, Colchester Campus.

I applied for tuition fee (£2,000) funding for 2nd module Non-Medical Prescribing to my current employer but there is no funding available.

I queried to the local hospital of there is no funding available.

I rang Student Loan Company and these CPD modules can not be funded by Student Loan Company. I tried the website Turn2Us and browsed a number of charities like Nightingale Charity and Education Support Partnership and  I spend hours and hours completing an application for grant forms, supportive statements and provided at least seven references and still, I was let down in the last minute after emailing them for months.

It would like to highlight the greater benefit to student nurses and patients within the Southend Area (and Essex) and beyond will so much greater. I am planning to open a Minor Injuries Clinic - assessment and treatment in the future to assist with hundreds of patients coming to A&E every day, 24/7, 365 days per year.

By helping me you are helping yourself, your family members and your friends and any person might come to A&E for any health issue with the primary, initial assessment.

None of these will be possible without me undertaking these 2 CPD modules.

I am pleading to you, the reader to donate whatever you can and this funding will be paid directly to the University of Essex, Colchester Campus. Please ensure that you write as a reference for payment my student SID: 1909725, otherwise, the University of Essex will not identify what the payment is for as the university receives thousands of payments for tuition fees.

I am due to start this 2nd module on 20 March 2020 at University of Essex, Southend on Sea Campus and I was let down by every charity and company I wrote from September 2019 to date.

You are my only hope.

Thank you so much for donating

Best wishes

Marilena
