My name is Jessica and I’m a recent graduate from Falmouth University with a love of cats. After finishing my degree, I wanted to find a way that I could incorporate my own skills and passions alongside those around me to create a business that could benefit the community. I believe that animals are the key to human happiness, especially in this day and age. They remind us what we are and that we should have fun and not take life so seriously.
My aim is to create a Cat Cafe that helps people in the same ways that cats have helped me: through establishing a comfortable space that is welcoming but also fun and unique, where people can come together to collaborate for community classes, events, or just to relax!
The cafe would be home to a few cats at a time, perhaps between 3-6, that would be up for rehoming. I am very passionate about the wellbeing of the cats and it is my top priority concerning welfare. They would have their own space completely separate from the public that they would have access to at all times, should they decide that they don't feel like socialising. I would also aim to allocate a percentage of the profits to a local rescue centre or charity.
The aesthetic of the cafe would be inspired by skateboarding culture and would feature neon colours and funky, unique interior decorations that are inspired by instagram and contemporary design. I also plan to create shirts and merchandise with cat-themed designs in order to help support the business.
This money will help me to:
- Support the business as a startup
- Finance the one-off beginning costs, such as furniture, building requirements for the cat's specific needs etc
- Ensure that I can offer the best possible environment for the cats as well as providing a community space that could be used for events/classes and also just function as a lovely, aesthetically pleasing and unique cafe!
