Our vision is that this will benefit the Nation and help to create physically and mentally fit people who are capable of socializing again after the problems the Pandemic has created for everyone.
From little acorns large oak trees grow and this acorn is our prototype being built by the People for the People. Please pass our information to anyone of your friends and help us to attain our goal .
People will benefit greatly in physical health and mental wellbeing from being able to train in their own time and way in this area, Which is a free area with no memberships required.
The Gym area will be used by everyone who is inclined to get fitter using their own body weight from the young to the senior men and women. We will also be using this area to encourage people to come forward and create a Calisthenics Community group which may help their mental as well as physical fitness.
We will be using the outdoors gym with the parents and children's workshops, when the weather allows but, we will use the indoor studio to keep this running regularly on a Friday. Young interested teens are encouraged to come along and learn to become leaders in this group and help the primary children who come from disadvantaged backgrounds.
All of this is free to the users; just as it is at present within the Energize fitness centre for the High School pupils from two of the local schools. They can access the indoor gym in the afternoons before six o'clock and learn about how to use the indoor equipment which will help to make them keen to train on the outdoor kit . Because this prototype is beside the fitness gym, anyone requiring some help on how to do a particular exercise only needs to ask one of the Personal Trainers in the Main Gym area. This would be a free service.
Having been a Gymnastics Coach for 40 years, one of my old boys from the National Squad and now a Gold Medal Winner on Rings at the Commonwealth Games, asked me if I could help him build a Calisthenics Outdoor Gym in Edinburgh. As a result of the Pandemic this is now about to come to fruition. Energize Fitness & Health Manager suggested that we build a prototype in the outdoor area at the back of the gym and therefore we got together and contacted Perium in London who are making and will install the equipment to our preferred design. The first custom built outdoor Calisthenics training area for Edinburgh.
We received funding for this project which enabled us to get started and place the equipment order. We also realised that it would be beneficial, for the Prototype, to create a canopy covering in order that is can still be used during inclement weather and we also, therefore, require to raise funds to allow us to purchase this at upwards of £10,000.
Our official opening day was on Friday 30th July and Police Scotland plus the local Council, amongst others, are very keen to see this progress into public parks in and around Edinburgh. Steve Frew, our Gold Medallist is going to come each month to run workshops in the gym for all interested parties. There are many people using this form of getting fit in their own countries and, if you search Calisthenics on Facebook, you will see this in many different areas including London.
