We are walking St Cuthbert's Way, a four-day hike through Scotland and England finishing at Holy Island off of the coast of Northumberland. We will be doing this to raise money for the Yemen Crisis Appeal.
Since 2015, war has put 24 million Yemeni women, men and children in need of humanitarian assistance, and is causing an estimated 10,000 preventable child deaths per year (Save the Children, 2016). Prices for food have rocketed, pushing huge numbers of people into poverty. There is a widespread cholera outbreak, >10 million people are without access to clean water, food and electricity.
On top of this, there are now an estimated 1 million Coronavirus cases in the country with only three health care workers for every ten thousand people. After what we have experienced in the UK, you can only struggle to imagine what it must be like after five years of war.
Oxfam and local partners are on the ground now. They have provided over 3 million people with access to safe, clean water and are providing cash assistance, medicine and food vouchers to the most vulnerable. This is where your donation will go.
Any donations would go far and be deeply appreciated.
