New stretch target
Add seating for staff!
We are aiming to improve our fire pit area used during Forest School sessions, benefiting all of the children within the Oakdale Community.
Add seating for staff!
Our School
Oakdale Junior School is a school at the heart of our community. We are federated with Oakdale Infant School and both schools work together to support the families that attend.
Equity lies at the core of everything that we believe and do. We know that every child has unique talents and it is our job to help them shine. All children, however young, can develop respect, responsibility, resilience, resourcefulness and the ability to reflect. These values will stand them in good stead as they become global citizens and they form the basis of our vibrant, safe and happy school.
Forest School
One aspect of our curriculum which we believe helps to achieve this is Forest School. The Forest School ethos develops children’s emotional and physical skills through play, exploration and investigation in the great outdoors. It fosters independence, confidence, communication skills and self-esteem, skills that have been so important to our children during the very challenging circumstances brought about by the pandemic. The sessions may include activities such as tool use, bug hunting, den making and knot tying. Many activities will be spontaneous, based upon the children’s interest and the opportunities that the grounds provide.
Can you help?
We have a member of specialist staff that delivers these sessions to children across both schools. Can you help us with our fire pit area? Log seating is needed to ensure the fire can be used in all weathers-see below for our dream!
