My name is Dylan and I am nearly 10 years old. I really enjoy cooking and trying out different recipes.
When I was 7 I became the UK's youngest succesful crowdfunder, writing and publishing my own recipe book to raise money for a children's charity. I raised £1,250.
I am now nearly 10 and am putting together a children's international recipe book and food passport to raise money for Action Against Hunger. I want to get children from across the world to tell me their favourite native recipes so I can publish them and help people learn about food from different countries and the issues of hunger people face on a daily basis. I am working with my friends at school and my Scouting network to help me get all the recipes.
Why Am I Doing This?
52 million children under the age of five in the world today are suffering from malnutrition. This may be because of natural disasters such as earthquakes, conflict within and between countries or droughts or floods. Action Against Hunger work in nearly 50 countries worldwide to carry out lifesaving programmes in nutrition, food security, water, sanitation and hygiene.
I don't think that anyone, wherever they are in the world, should go hungry, it doesn't seem right.
How The Money Will Be Spent
The money raised will be used to pay for design and printing of the recipe books and food passports. There will be some small additional expenses to cover such as postage but I will keep these as low as possible so that any money raised here not needed to cover costs will go directly to the charity.
I am hoping to have 100 copies printed and to raise £1000 for Action Against Hunger through the sale of these books.
I really need your support to make this happen. When I crowdfunded 2 years ago I learnt that anything is possible with help from others. It may seem impossible to be tackling child hunger on this scale but I want to help make a difference, to stop children experiencing hunger, and for them to know the joy of food.
Thank you so much for your help.
