Flyability - new handivol paragliding buggy
We did it
On 27th February 2020 we successfully raised £4,480 ( + est. £712.75 Gift Aid ) with 57 supporters in 42 days

We loan out paragliding wheelchairs to UK BHPA schools to train and fly with disabled people. We want to buy a new Handivol Buggy for this.

Flyability works across the UK to make paragliding and hang gliding accessible to disabled people. One of our most important services is loaning out specialist equipment to BHPA schools - including a range of different paragliding wheelchairs.

We currently have a number of different paragliding wheelchairs and buggies but they are ageing and we need to continually replace and update them. Different buggies and wheelchairs suit different pilots and launch techniques and sites so it is important that we have a variety of buggies available.

The Handivol paragliding wheelchair has been developed in France with the FFVL and is one of few commercially available paragliding wheelchairs. We don't currently have any buggies of this type for use in the UK.

We are a very small charity and can't afford to purchase buggies like this from our reserves so we are running this crowdfunder specifically to purchase this new type of paragliding buggy. Any excess funds will go into the general Flyability pot and be used to help fund scholarships for disabled people to fly paragliders and hang gliders.

If we don't meet our fundraising target then we will ringfence the donations until we can find the additional funds to make the purchase of the new buggy.

More information about the buggy is here: http://backbone.fr/detail-219-Wheelchair-14.php

  • designed by FFVL for tandem and trainee disabled pilots.
  • tried and tested design
  • designed for hill/mountain launches

We would welcome corporate sponsorship for this buggy. Please get in touch if this is something you would be interested in.
