Peter from the Life Resource Center (LRC), has started a small chicken project to improve the living conditions of local widows and orphans living in Zimbabwe.
Peter has been involved in outreach missionary work for many years and has set up a range of innitatives to alleviate poverty in Zimbabwe. Peter is someone that wants to make a difference and LWCC has been privileged over the years to support Peter with his food aid and farming projects
He has shared with LWCC his goal to expand his small chicken project into a sustainable business, and provide income for the work that he does teaching widows and orphans to grow and plant food to provide for their education, food, and clothing.
Projects like this makes it feasible for a woman to feed herself and her children, and helps to alleviate poverty and hunger in Zimbabwe. Chickens are beneficial to every family enabling them to add meat and eggs to their diets and improve their health status. Any surplus eggs can be sold in the community
The small chicken house that Peter has started has already proved to be a reliable resource. A boarding school is willing to support the chicken house project aims and expansion plans by buying their chickens. The school have inspected the project and are satisfied but want to see something more developed before they enter into a contract. The school also want to see some feeds stocks for the chicks - this will support proper chicken management and prevent the need for the chicks to be fed by scavenging the waste of the ground.
LWCC is trying to raise £3000 to support the LRC ministry to build up their own sustainable chicken and feed stocks. LRC will then be able to sell the chickens to the boarding school and use the funds to continue their work supporting widows and orphans.
Thank you for your support
