Super Sustainable Sailing Sculpture Ahoy
Loved the Garden Festival school trip, fun to see this link to shipbuilding displayed again.
I remember seeing the Floating Head at the Garden Festival in the summer after my first year at art school. Many years later I met Richard at a night out in Edinburgh organised by a mutual friend who is a letter cutter. Richard was delighted but bashful that I knew about and wanted to talk about this sculpture from an earlier phase in his life. I was so sad to hear of his death, but very pleased that this work of his will be restored and celebrated.
I love this idea. I'm a bit poor at the moment so could only give a little but hope it helps ! Thanks Robert
A wonderful cause in memory of a great guy - miss him x
I had the pleasure of working with Richard Groom at Stirling City Heritage Trust, but only found out that he had created the Floating Head after his passing. I recently found a photograph of the Head that I took on one of my many visits to the Glasgow Garden Festival and it brought back great memories.
Charlie & Ellen Campbell would like to wish the project the best of luck & it would be great to see see this floating in the Clyde again
Can't wait to see this back in the Clyde. Well done everyone so far!
Good luck with this project! Steph and Angela
I believe in keeping our heritage.
Good luck with the project. It brings back happy memories of the Garden Festival in 1988. Would be fantastic to see the head back where it belongs.
'Bob' represents the size and power of the shipping building industry to Glasgow and the immense talent of the sculptor Richard Groom
My Mums friend, Shirley Richmond has donated towards the campaign & she looks forward to seeing the head float again
