Who are we?
Bob Faye, friendly, devoted and highly skilled chef not only in the UK but across the globe in places like Spain, Canada, America, France just to name a few and last but not least a multilingual speaker with a fantastic smile.
Sam Wright, ambitious, with a great personality and good sense of humour has accounts and design background, both together make a fun, hardworking partnership team.
We would love to share with you our passion for cooking, experimenting, designing, playing, dreaming, and maybe a few dance moves?
We opened Safaye to create an eating experience like no other in 2017 serving the public at Crawley Borough market in the form of a Streetfood van and had a purpose—to make African food interactive, approachable, affordable, and a lot of fun.
We had no idea what to expect, we just knew this was our dream job. Over time, our customers became our friends and we really want this to continue onwards.
So what’s our new vision of Safaye?
The Safaye concept must go on by continuing with the things we are known for—African food, our attention to detail, and artistically designed cuisine produced and served by our incomparable chef Bob, but in an African themed, family restaurant. Open seven days a week. The music will be bumpin’ with the afrobeats vibe, there will be magic in the aromatic air whilst you relax, sipping sweet Ataya tea whilst absorbing the scenic surroundings of African artwork. Due to high requests we decided to push the boundaries further than we ever have and offer our flavors, textures, plating, and serving that we couldn't show in the catering van. Dishes like Jollof rice, Okra or Egusi soup, Mafe (peanut butter stew), Dibi/ Afra and fufu and a heathy selection of Vegan choices also, a restaurant where you can celebrate birthdays/ family occasions/ work parties or weddings together with made to order menu's at your request and an online takeaway service.
The new Safaye will offer tasting menus along side a range of popular dishes served across the plains of African and diners need only come with an open mind, to allow the chef to take them on a stimulating culinary journey. It will be an exciting experience for all meat, vegetarian and vegan food adventurers.
Why do you need the money?
We need your help with the 6 months upfront rental leasing and the first months overhead costs, that outweighs our van sale proceeds. The new Safaye will create history, and we want you to be the catalyst of our creative freedom.
This Crowdfunder campaign allows us to offer up a bunch of cool rewards :
See all of our pledge levels in the right column for details on these and other rewards.
Everyone who pledges will have their name placed on our special themed wall inside the restaurant, showing how you helped open the First African Restaurant.
The original Safaye was magic because we had the freedom to do it our way. With your help, we can re-open with the same freedom and have even more magic.
We would not be here today without our support group—you, the guest, a fellow Safaye follower.
Please help us open this restaurant and keep our vision intact. Please consider supporting this project and spread the word and thank you for all you have done so far.
