Firefly Arts have provided youth arts workshops, projects and training for children and young people in West Lothian for over 30 years. Our team are committed to fun, accessible and quality arts experience for all, and specialise in projects that engage effectively with participants who are vulnerable, marginalised or disadvantaged.
Following a major funding cut, Firefly is having to withdraw workshops, additional needs support, training and exchange opportunities that require core subsidy and are not project funded.
Our much-loved annual winter show is also at risk. Not just a show (however fabulous), but a life-enhancing project that supports children and young people into devising, performance, design, theatre tech, film, marketing and box-office roles. Our young people are proactive and resourceful. They are determined to save this unique opportunity to build skills, work creatively and collaboratively, and present their views and aspirations to the wider community.
Your pledge is vital to securing their success in this. It will contribute to over 80 devising, rehearsal, design, production skills, tech training and performance events for young people aged 8 to 18 years, specialist resources needed by participants with additional support needs, austerity budgets for costume, set and publicity, and to meet the small costs of running this campaign.
Any additional funds raised (we're positive thinkers!) will be used to restart a weekly theatre and performance group for young adults with additional support needs, along with a series of ClubNite events to bring together young people from all backgrounds to enjoy music, meet new friends and enjoy a quality of social life they so richly deserve.
Our young people deserve positive lifestyles and creative futures, and Firefly are doing our very best to help achieve this. Here are some examples of our young people's work...
Don't let creative minds go to waste. Your pledge will make a real difference. Thank you!
