Before my wife was diagnosed with cancer she had progressing mobility problems. I knocked down the garage to build a sort of mini bungalow for her as there was no downstairs toilet or bedroom in my daughters house in which we lived. My intention was to provide this for her as her disabilities progressed.
I had no experience of building and took to youtube to learn the necessary skills that I required. I could only spend an hour or so per day so it was rather slow progress, but saying that, I dug out the foundations manually and a friend provided the concrete for the foundations. I could then start the building work in earnest. Unfortunately, in October 2017 my wife was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer and as she used to be a nurse she knew her time was limited.
She passed away in June 2018.
Since early this year I have progressed with the building work to the extent that it is about 75% complete but although time I have plenty of, I have run out of funds to complete. I have to move on now and wish to move to easier to manage accommodation. The problem is that my daughter who may have to sell soon has an unfinished project in her garden that will devalue her house. I wish to make the building complete i.e. with windows, floor and roof so that it can at least be used in some form, office, workshop, studio or whatever may appeal to a new owner.
I shall continue to do most of the work myself and just call in the professionals when needed.
In the event of any over funding I will use it all in continuing to organise more concerts in aid of local charities.
