FINE AND DANDY was produced at The Arcola Theatre as part of their creative disruption festival in 2018. It received 5 star reviews and many who saw it wanted to see it again including some of our reviewers.
Having produced, highly successfully, The Tempest at Eressos in 2016 followed by a tour in 2017 and 2018 we were given the opportunity to produce Fine and Dandy as part of The Kings Head Queer Season in 2019. (August 6th - 11th).
Sea-change Theatre has engaged a team of fabulous creatives, some from the previous production and some through our auditions. We have the finest LGBTQI performers in the land as well as a fantastic Director, Lil Warren, the superlative Lu Firth as designer and Ethel the Snake is being dusted off and given a new lease of life for these invigorating performances.
Ernest Faigele Fine, “a wandering Jew at the turn of the century” moves across continents, from The Pale of Settlement in the pogroms as a child, through to Manchester, Blackpool, the Yiddish Music Hall, and the battlefields of France. In Blackpool Ernest meets the enigmatic Dandy, a male impersonator, who is cruelly taken from her by Lulu Labelle, the evil snake charmer, against a backdrop of the First World War.
From there Ernest travels to America, taking with them Ethel the snake and the clothes they stand up in. The adventures continue until they are re-united with Dandy at “The Liberty Fair” in sunny California having identified through the intervention of Little Wing, a Native American, as a two-spirit healer
This is an epic tale of trickery, treachery, love, redemption, and disaster.
We need money for props, costumes, publicity and marketing. We are starting on a very low budget and need your help. Please help to ensure the continuous life of this gender bending theatre company.
