I self published Finding the Light in Dementia, a Guide for Families, Friends & Caregivers in November 2017. It is based on my experience working with people who have dementia & their families and carers for over 25 yrs in Memory Clinics, Care Homes & Hospitals. It is an essential self help book explaining common changes that can occur in people living with dementia & offers valuable tips, approaches and carer stories. It is also informed by my PhD research exploring sensory ways of communicating with people who are affected by the condition. As carers and families are often time starved and stressed, an audio version of Finding the Light in Dementia would help them greatly when they may feel too tired to read. They could listen to it anywhere on a phone, tablet, IPAD or computer at whatever time of day they find a moment. It will bring the book to life where the calm voice will help guide them through any challenges they may be facing in that moment in time. This will make the advice and support and carer stories more easily accessible. Also the use of a Finding the Light in Dementia App will help families & carers focus on the specific issues they are experiencing in that time and provide timely advice and support that is easy to access and follow, thereby giving them back control over their lives and finding ways to reconnect with their loved ones.
