Who your gift will help
Lock down is an inconvenience to most of us. But to many pregnant young women it's a prison sentence. Imagine being alone, trafficked into this country. Isolated from your family, no one to see or talk to. Imagine the opposite, struggling with small children and an unemployed partner in a tiny flat. Worse still, imagine being unable to escape from an abusive partner. Or imagine you don't have anywhere to call home at a time when everyone has to be off the streets.... Now imagine how much worse this can be when you find out you're pregnant as well. It’s a bombshell, hopelessness overwhelms you.
How your gift will help them
Life is there to help the pregnant young woman to find hope in an otherwise hopeless situation. Coming alongside, helping her to find acceptance, someone who cares about her, giving practical help, even supported accommodation for the most desperate.
What your gift will fund
Our helplines are often the only means of communication open to her, a listening ear when there is no one else to hear, a friendly voice able to offer hope and more than that, real help… someone to walk alongside her, helping her to face an uncertain future together with her child-to-be.
Why we need it now
Just a week into this period of lock down, calls to our helplines are up by more than 150%. The number of women contacting us has risen to 160 a day – that’s some 50,000 a year. And those 50,000 women are just the ones who have managed to reach us. Our counselling and skilled listening services* are being stretched to the limit. We are running desperately low on equipment and items for practical support. Much of our supported accommodation is full.
Help us give hope
Life is the one place the woman can come to when she sees no other option, especially if she wants her child to live. Our charity needs your donations in order to meet this demand for our specialist support - a demand that is rapidly increasing due to the Coronavirus crisis. Please, give hope. Give generously.
