Redcliffe College and Press Red are working together to equip Christians to recognise, understand and overcome gender-based violence. We're doing this by developing an online course that will offer churches, organisations and individuals an opportunity to:
- learn about the extent of gender-based violence, locally, nationally and globally;
- understand different types of gender-based violence, such as domestic violence, female genital mutilation, trafficking and prostitution, rape, and early and enforced marriage;
- work through a Christian response to gender-based violence;
- consider practical steps for addressing gender-based violence locally, nationally and globally
We are being cheered on by Dr Elaine Storkey, whose landmark book, Scars Across Humanity: Understanding and Overcoming Violence Against Women, has been the catalyst for our work.
Elaine and her publisher, SPCK, are thrilled to see her book as the core reading for the course. Designed for both individuals and groups, the course will feature videos, further reading, and different learning activities.

Violence, Gender & Justice: Shaping a Christian Response
Two sessions recorded at our recent day consultation helping women and men to think through a Christian response to gender injustice.
In the first session Elaine Storkey talks about Gender Based Violence based on her award-winning book Scars Across Humanity.
Peter Wilson then shares his (a male) perspective on the topic and gives some ideas on how Christian men can support women.
Each talk is an hour long and available in either video or audio format.
