An emerging group of filmmakers currently studying their Bachelor honour degrees at The Northern Film school in Leeds are looking to raise funds for the production of exciting new film 'Fierce Women'. A sequel to previous film 'Working for the Woman' which is currently being entered into film festivals.
Following on from previous film 'Working for the Woman' we aim to continue holding up a mirror to society by showing the double standards women are judged by and the harassment they endure not only in the workplace. It parodies the myths that women are emotionally unstable and incapable of technical or demanding roles and also illustrates uncomfortable positions we all recognise.
In the wake of new movements such as #TimesUp and #MeToo, a new wave of emerging filmmakers seek to challenge not men, but the patriarchal supremacy that persists in enslaving us all.
Fierce Women is a short drama based in a parallel universe where gender ‘roles’ are reversed. Women dominate and men are viewed as inferior to their female counterparts.
Haiesha and Michelle, two business women at the top of their game arrive at a hotel bar the night before a crucial meeting. Relaxing after a hard day’s work with their colleague Jane. An upcoming junior manager with a modern perspective on gender stereotypes.
Conflict arises between the three when discussions about marriage and their attitudes towards men is explored. Until Haiesha notices an attractive young man (Max) enter the bar and when challenged by colleagues begins to try and seduce him.
Meanwhile Jane continues to try and open Michelle’s eyes to the modern world. Ignoring every sign that this man is not interested, the conversation continues on the other side of the bar as Haiesha persists, ordering drinks for them both. Accepting out of politeness, he winds up in a difficult situation where no means yes.
The day after, a delicate Michelle and Haiesha are waiting for their business meeting to begin. They hear footsteps approaching and perk up, placing fake smiles on their faces. Only to be shocked when their important client introduces their son. The handsome young man Haiesha tried to seduce the night before.
