We would like to establish an annual Welsh Medieval festival with an emphasis on education

by Gŵyl Edeirnion Festival in Corwen, Wales, United Kingdom

INTRODUCTION

The Welsh Medieval period is an interesting, colourful period that could easily serve as a basis to a Game of Thrones series!  Despite of its importance and all the twists and drama of the period it is not taught at any length in Welsh schools and is not promoted in the way that we see Scotland promote medieval subjects such as Bannockburn, Robert the Bruce and William Wallace.

AIMS & AMBITIONS  Our vision is to establish a unique national event which will be a celebration of Medieval Wales.  'Gŵyl y Fflam' Festival will be a  festival taking place in Corwen on 14th - 15th September 2019 to coincide with Owain Glyndŵr day on Monday16th September. The area  has a strong association with Owain Glyndŵr, the last native Prince of Wales. As part of the festival we want  a large living history area where several period re-enactor groups will educate visitors in Medieval Welsh life.  We also plan an exhibition area with several Welsh Medieval societies, workshop areas, medieval virtual reality display and talks that will interest all ages in their history.

We would also like to organise a parade which will focus on the symbolism within Medieval Wales, from Dragons to heraldic emblems and visits to primary schools to help promote Welsh history.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!  We now need to raise approximately £8,000 through a combination of grants, sponsors and crowdfunding to ensure this  festival takes place.  Your support, however small can make this event a reality, so please share our story and donate.

CYFLWYNIAD
Mae'r cyfnod canoloesol Cymreig yn gyfnod diddorol, lliwgar a allai'n hawdd wasanaethu fel sail i gyfres Game of Thrones!  Er gwaethaf ei bwysigrwydd a'r holl efrydwyr a drama'r cyfnod ni ddysgir llawer yn ysgolion Cymru ac ni chaiff ei hyrwyddo yn y ffordd y gwelwn yr Alban yn hyrwyddo pynciau canoloesol megis Bannockburn, Robert y Bruce a William Wallace.

NODAU AC UCHELGAIS. Ein gweledigaeth yw sefydlu digwyddiad cenedlaethol unigryw a fydd yn ddathliad o'r Gymru ganoloesol.  Bydd ' Gŵyl y Fflam ' yn ŵyl sy'n cael ei chynnal yng Nghorwen ar 14fed-15ain Medi 2019 i gyd-fynd â diwrnod Owain Glyndŵr ar dydd Llun16eg Medi. Mae gan yr ardal gysylltiad cryf ag Owain Glyndŵr, Tywysog brodorol olaf Cymru. Fel rhan o'r ŵyl rydym am gael ardal hanes byw fawr lle bydd nifer o grwpiau 'ail-enactor'y cyfnod yn addysgu ymwelwyr ym mywyd canoloesol Cymru.  Rydym hefyd yn cynllunio ardal arddangos gyda nifer o gymdeithasau canoloesol Cymreig, ardaloedd gweithdy, arddangosfa rithwir ganoloesol a sgyrsiau a fydd o ddiddordeb i bob oedran .

Hoffem hefyd drefnu gorymdaith a fydd yn canolbwyntio ar y symbolaeth o fewn y Gymru ganoloesol, o ddreigiau i arglwyddiaethau arwyddol ac hefyd ymweliadau ag ysgolion cynradd er mwyn helpu i hyrwyddo hanes Cymru.

MAE ANGEN EICH HELP!! Bellach mae angen i ni godi tua £8,000 drwy gyfuniad o grantiau, noddwyr ac arian torfol i sicrhau bod yr ŵyl hon yn digwydd. Gall eich cefnogaeth, waeth pa mor fach, wneud y digwyddiad hwn yn realiti, felly, rhannwch ein stori a rhoi.
