"Just saying No is not an option"- Naomi Klein. It is time to take action. Are you ready to speak out, and support us in doing so?
WHY SUPPORT THE 50% PROJECT?
This is a completely non-profit event, run by a charity, and so we rely on ticket sales, sponsorships and fundraising to fund the event. Everyone in the team is giving their time voluntarily to make this a huge success, and initiate meaningful discussions and bring some of that surge of energy coursing through social media into real life interactions.
Your support will enable us to not only fund this event, but also donate to three nominated women's charities in the north-west ranging from sex workers to domestic abuse survivors that will be polled by attendees on the day.
We have free creative and business workshops planned for sex workers and domestic violence survivors in Manchester and Liverpool to offer them opportunities, enabling them to create opportunities for themselves.
We are also offering free workshops for children and teenagers and 'speaking out' fostering a pride in their unique identities and giving them tools to tell their stories in their own words.
FEMINIST AF: Is feminism really about gender equality? For us, feminism is not about being equal to a man. When feminism is defined as becoming equal to men, it is a clear admission that men are the default by which we ought to measure ourselves, and therefore, no longer feminism at all. We are standing for equality for all, not 'equal to', just equal!

TEDxFormbyPointWomen is here, being held in conjunction with the TEDx Women event in Palm Springs, California; the first time a TEDx Women event is being held in the North of the country. We are mobilising the north, and showcasing the inspiring work being done by womxn here, by womxn and for womxn. We are an inclusive, diverse and intersectional team, and our aim is to provide a platform to those voices that are not often heard in the mainstream media. Not just those with huge social media followings, and those that are always invited to speak at events, but also those who are working tirelessly but do not have the same spotlight shining on them.
Our event will bring together the wider community of inspiring women and changemakers, and this diverse and inspiration rich event will feature some of the best talks of your life in the North-West from science to arts to global issues to personal development, on the theme of 'limitless boundaries'.
We are really excited to be holding this event at TATE Liverpool overlooking the Albert Docks in Liverpool, easily accessible from all transport links.
We have a series of similar events planned for 2019, creative events and TED-Ed events for young people, and we hope that we can all join forces into demanding equality for all, inspiring the next generation of young women into believing that they can turn every setback into an opportunity, that the world is their oyster, and that every story and voice matters.
