Only 0.1% of creative agencies are founded by women and a 3% make it to creative leadership roles. My mission is to help cover this gap by founding my own design studio.
10% of my profits will be used on self-initiated projects for social causes to empower other women through creativity.
Who am I?
My name is Raquel and I am a designer. I have worked across Europe (from the coldest Helsinki to the Austrian mountains, historical Berlin and where I'm from, Spain) and now I live in London. My work spans across artistic direction, moving imagery, illustration and 3D design. I've worked in artistic environments ending up in projects for large museums and also in technological projects involving Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Reality.
My love of design and art began at an early age, if I wasn’t at home making comic books and Photoshop tutorials from my dad's computer magazines, I was drawing on the tables at school which got me in trouble more than once. Every step I took during my education was geared towards establishing myself in the career I now have and love.
I couldn’t be happier to have made my dream of being a designer come true. I've ended up working with some of the most prestigious studios in the world- but I now feel that some big steps need to be taken to have a bigger female representation in the design world which is exactly why I am so excited to be launching this crowdfunder.
What I want to do.
I’ll be starting a small design studio. My clients will include those with a social purpose and businesses in the early stages of their development. You can book my services by looking through the pledges on this page.
I've been already helping small businesses and charities to develop their brand identity as a side hustle and I've been also learning and experimenting with different media to develop visual imagery. You can check some examples of my work here.
Here is some of my favourite reviews about my job:
"Literally we can’t thank you enough [...] honestly you’re the biggest star in the universe and they’ll name lakes after you in the future… WE LOVE YOU" - Sophie Darling and Amy Thompson from Same Wave Musician Series.
"Raquel took a great deal of care and time to understand my business and provide creative solutions as we worked towards reaching more people. Raquel is an incredibly thoughtful and talented designer with a creativity and attention to detail that transformed my business."- Thomas Binns from The Guitar Social.
The social bit.
I believe every human being is creative, no matter the form used to express this. Research demonstrates that creating art decreases negative emotions, reduces stress and anxiety, and improved medical outcomes. Not only can being creative help you live longer, but it can improve your quality of health and life too.
I will be taking a percentage of profits and using these to facilitate workshops for women from a vulnerable background. These workshops will include finding your own voice through creativity, illustration for all levels and communication through design. The purpose is to help women meet their inner artist, gain self-confidence and express themselves as a way of empowering them while they learn a craft.
