Feed Manchester is a non-profit group that goes out every Friday night, come rain or shine, to deliver hot food, hot drinks, sandwich packs and emergency provisions to individuals experiencing homelessness in Manchester.
Over the four years Feed Manchester has been running, we have seen a shocking rise in the numbers of people sleeping rough. Feed Manchester provides support to these individuals who are struggling to survive on the streets of Manchester, and we have found that this need has been dramatically increased by the coronavirus crisis. Rough sleepers don’t have the luxury of a roof over their head to safely isolate away from others, and higher rates of health problems further increases their vulnerability to the virus. Good nutrition, hydration and a friendly socially distant conversation are essential to support our friends on the streets at this time.
The team relies entirely upon donations and the generosity of its members to fund the food run each week, as well as a few static events throughout the year, so we are always looking for sponsorship and donations to keep us going! All funds raised go directly to those living on the streets of Manchester, and thanks to the generosity of amazingly kind businesses, organisations and invididuals we have managed to deliver over 16,650 hot meals, 12,500 sandwiches, 9,000 hot drinks and countless snacks (not to mention sleeping bags, hair cuts and toiletries!) over the last 4 years!
Any donations, no matter how big or small, will help us to carry on providing food and support to those that need it!
Volunteering with Feed Manchester is available to anyone over the age of 18. If you’d like to join us or find out more about other ways to help, please contact us through out social media Platforms or via email at [email protected] We’d love to hear from you!
