To run a working livestock farm where veterans with PTSD can re-establish a connection with nature through working on the farm

by tim lazenby in Durham

We are veterans that met on an outward bound course designed to help with our PTSD and anxiety issues. We feel that running a working livestock farm which especially caters for veterans, will help them to reconnect with nature and themselves.

The aim is to run a proper working livestock farm and have veterans help run the farm by staying for week long courses aimed at establishing links with nature and animal husbandry. We will also offer in house clinics designed to empower individuals to re-establish links with family members that have become strained because of their PTSD. To offer help in returning to work and building confidence that has long been forgotten.

Individuals will be housed in purpose built accomodation and the focus will be on the kitchen or more importantly the kitchen table. We believe that a connection with nature through good organic food is paramount to a persons health and well being.
