We are a civilian organisation with the members being family of British Far East Prisoners of War.
Wednesday 15th February 2017 is the 75th Anniversary of The Fall of Singapore.
The Far East Prisoners of War Association in Plymouth has organised a church service in St. Andrews Minster Church. Attended by our Lord Mayor and other dignitries, Children and grandchildren of Plymouth service men taken prisoner by the Japanese, some died in "hells ships". Civilian women and children were also taken from the Dutch Indies. A total of 130,000 British and Allied forces never saw families again until 3.5/4 years later. Some not making it home at all.
It is our chance as a family, as a city to show respect for the brave men, women and children in this commemoration service.
The Far East Prisoners of War Association Plymouth are looking for funding please to produce the Order of Service Booklet's, pay for the organist and buglar. Any money left over will go to help veterans regardless of which Service they served in.
Teach our children the history of yesterday, today. We must never forget.
