The Cornish Piper Fairground Organ was purchased in Liverpool by Phil and Ann Raymond 9 years ago, originally built by Alan Pell as a 48 key organ with base drum and symbol, snare drum, 2 bell ringers and a conductor. It has been enlarged to a 65 key organ by adding base pipes, counter melody, triangles, wooden blocks and a gloxenspiel, this work was undertaken by Mr. Rob Barker up in Licolnshire. The original part of the organ has had an overhaul and there are a few more jobs to be done to restore it to prestine condition. The van in which it travelled ceased to be roadworthy and has been replaced with a Ford Luton body van which as been especially modified to display the organ.
Unfortunately, the job is not finished yet and that is why we need your help.
The restoration of the original part of the organ needs to be completed, 2 more bell ringers are needed to accompany the extra pipes which have been fitted, also the trumpet and trombone section still need to be purchased and fitted. This will then complete the organ and create a truly amazing sound. There is also more lighting and artwork to be undertaken to enhance the appearance of the organ in its van. It has always been our intention to be able to recreate the music hall type shows that would have been seen with a fairground organ in the early years of the 20th Century and to achieve this we need a portable stage, seating, lighting, signage and a generator so it can be a totally self sufficient mobile unit. When all this work is complete we will be able to take this unique piece of our British history to shows, charity events, festivals or any kind of public gathering where it will benefit the community by providing a stage for all kinds of entertainers or would be entertainers to perform in front a live audience.
Please help up achieve this goal by supporting this venture.
