Face masks for when you're feeling vulnerable
We did it
On 28th July 2020 we successfully raised £4,349 with 197 supporters in 14 days

As shielding begins to lift for the most vulnerable, some have told us that they'd like a face mask to tell others to keep a distance.

New stretch target

This project will only happen if we have enough pledges for 100 face masks (£1,000)

£9 of each pledge will be spent on face masks. £1 per face mask will be donated to Leukaemia Care to continue to valuable work during this pandemic.

Hello, I'm Nicole Scully from Leukaemia Care. Last week, I spoke to a group of blood cancer patients who expressed their wish for a mask which could convey the need for others to keep a distance. This is their idea coming to life.

We are proposing to create these washable face masks with a clear message on the front. These face masks are designed to make you feel comfortable in social situations, while offering protection and a little bit of personality during these times.

At least £1 per mask would be donated to Leukaemia Care to help continue our support services that have been so vital during this pandemic.

Features of these masks

Key Features:

  • 100% water-repellent polyester with dust-proof membrane.
  • Washable & re-useable (we recommend washing at 60 degrees)
  • Enhanced Qwick-Dri™ wicking technology.
  • These masks do not feature a filter
  • Antimicrobial layer with hypoallergenic properties.

How are these face masks secured?

These products feature head loops. To affix, place the smaller loop over the head first and move to the top of the neck. Apply second loop and place on the crown. Move mask to adjust comfort, and use adjusters to tighten or loosen the mask.

If you have a hearing aid or wear glasses, you might find this style of mask to be especially comfortable

Please note: These products are not to be used as medical PPE equipment.

How does crowdfunding work?

This is an all-or-nothing crowdfunder. This means, if we do not raise £1,000 to get this project 'off the ground', it won't go ahead. Therefore, if you pledge to support but we don't hit the target within two weeks, you will not be charged. If we do hit the £1,000 and you have pledged to support, the money will be taken and you will be supplied with the face masks (by the end of August at the latest).

When would I receive my mask/masks?

Once we hit £1,000, the initial order would be place and we anticipate that this  would take approximately three weeks to be fulfilled.

Face coverings like these are not a replacement for medical grade personal protective equipment (PPE). Your decision to use these face coverings is solely your own.

A mask or face covering is not a replacement for other measures that have been put in place to prevent the community spread of COVID-19 (also known as Coronavirus). Measures such as regular hand washing, social distancing and refraining from touching your face should still be adhered to.
