Every Day's a Story Day
We believe that from the very earliest days of a child's life, hearing, seeing, watching and telling stories can have a powerful and long lasting positive influence for children.
That's why we launched our campaign for every child in Scotland to hear a story every day from birth.
Stories support children to:
- Have an equal and excellent start in life
- Build strong and supportive relationships
- Enrich and enhance language and literacy
- Develop thinking and problem-solving skills
- Foster a love of books and stories from the earliest years
- Step into new worlds and other cultures
As our nation's love of storytelling is so strong, we decided to create our own storybook to provide our own, unique literacy resources to support children and families who use our services in communities.
Ralph's Rainy Day Adventures
One rainy day, a little West Highland Terrier called Ralph goes on an adventure with his friends Archie and Isla. This isn’t an ordinary adventure; it’s a unique rollercoaster ride, straight from the vivid imaginations of young writers from ten nurseries around Scotland. Their story begins in Glasgow’s West End, but lots of fun takes place as the trio travel across the country in their magical boat, meeting funny new friends, saving the day and making it back home, just in time for tea.
The ten nurseries around Scotland that wrote the story during a nationwide story trail are:
- Secret Garden Outdoor Nursery
- Kelvinside Academy Green Forrest Nursery
- Papillon Nursery
- Clyde Cottage Nursery
- Jaybee’s Childcare
- Stepping Stones Nursery
- Polly Wolly Doodle Nursery
- Little Tikes Playgroup
- Fyvie Pre School
By donating you'll help us share Ralph's adventures, and the countless benefits of storytelling, with children and families in communities around Scotland who will get to experience the joy of reading our first-ever storybook - igniting the imaginations of children nationwide for years to come.
