Please help! Eye & DCC 2020 Crowdfunder is here! Covid19 impacted us massively, help us provide Cricket for All. Donate or take a reward

by Eye & District Cricket Club in Eye, England, United Kingdom

New stretch target

At the last committee meeting we had a re-focus and what we wanted to do as a result of Covid. We wanted to ring fence the club this session and focus on promoting the participation in the sport and encourage people to get into Cricket. To get active! Keep active when the opportunity presents its self. To this end, we want to give people inside and more importantly those outside the club the chance to try and play cricket throughout 2020 and into 2021. When children and adults benefit from playing the sport, they get fit and its participation we know as a club we will grow and benefit.

The first thing is to provide extra coaching, equipment and access to nets throughout the rest of 2020 and into 2021. This is expensive and we have lots of people locally hit by covid 19. We hope to do this free,  we will promote throughout the Eye & District area of Suffolk. This includes existing players but also novice groups, people who have never played before, school aged groups in year 4/5/6, all ladies/girl groups. Cricket for All.

Secondly we want the environment that people come into to be fit for purpose, enjoyable and a reason to return. We do not have that presently and all our 2020 revenue disappeared over night no fees, no sponsorship, we have been left with no opportunities to raise funds to try to address some of the most serious issues we have with the fabric of our club house. We have showers (See photos) that are in need of making good for 2021 and ideally changing to be inline with today's guidance. That is separate until versus communal showering (£3.5k). We also have storm damaged changing rooms that make it presently a space that players cannot use. See photos. We expect this to cost (£1.2k). We want to improve the experience we offer our customers but also other that may be able to use the facilities off season such as keep fit classes, running groups, archery not just cricket.

Once we have completed this fund raising if we need more funds, we will look to other funding sources such as local authority (Town council/MSDC, Suffolk County Council, CIL), to top up the work started here to bring Cricket to All.

Many thanks in advance for your help and support.

Eye & District Cricket Club as been a part of the town of Eye for over 200 years. We are a small rural cricket club that have made huge strides last year  to work with the community to make it a better place to work, live and play.

Unfortunately, like others we have suffered from the covid 19 effect. We have had to cancel all games and practice sessions this year so far. As well as our fund raising activities for this year and little sign we will open up again soon playing normally.

2020 How we help the wider community

This was going to be the year we continued to help out the community. We had started well with our Winter net sessions at Hartismere School in which the juniors got back into the swing of things. We then planned to hold our first Jumble sale at the TownHall in early April, a special VE Day Big Bash with a game against the town folks and visiting relatives of the American air crews that were based in Eye during WWII,  BBQ's and Quiz's. We have reached out to other charities, schools and businesses in Eye & District to see how as different organisations we can help each other out.

Covid put a stop to most things. We have loaned equipment out to juniors so they can continue to keep active at home with parents.

We helped out with food deliveries during this time, alternative food options for those isolated and overall tried like most in Eye to be a good neighbour.

Please support us now through a donation or pledge money in exchange for a reward kindly donated by local businesses. This is open to all. See side for details.

We have plans to support the return to normal life and ensure we all benefit from the participation of sport. The physical and mental benefits are well known. We are prominently a summer sport and as things stand we do not appear to be able to get out and enjoy the open space, exercise and friendships that we all know cricket brings us. We want your help to make cricket available to all throughout the rest of 2020 and well into 2021 with greater access to the sport of Cricket indoors.

TRAINING: Extra Junior and Senior training throughout 2020 into 2021

1)  We want to provide extra off season indoor training and coaching. This will enable us ALL to try the sport for the first time, become more active, all winter long. Open to all.

 >We will need to pay for the halls.

 >We will need to pay for the extra coaching sessions.

 >We will need to buy new equipment to cover the need for smaller groupings.

 >Coach the coaches: to improve our ability to deliver now and in the future.

2) We also want to have girl/ladies only sessions again to promote the sport among new participants, getting active and back into sport.

3) We want to run novice sessions for schools year's 4/5/6  (Eye, Thorndon, Occold, Palgrave, Gislingham, Wortham) in and around Eye. This will engage with a new generation of players and parents and get them active

We want to provide this free of charge.

CAPITAL :We want to offer everyone the best experience and receive the maximum benefit that physical exercise brings to all the people in our community. To do this we have plans to improve our facilities.

1) We need to update the facilities which are in need of repair following the recent damages to the roof and the changing rooms. We hope to improve it for the use of all and their families when the club is in use.

Ceiling damage in the changing rooms with mould that must be repaired.

Please support us through a donation or committing to pledge money in exchange for a reward. See side for details.

We appreciate your help and look forward to welcoming you to the club or nets very soon in 2020 and 2021.
