For the first time in my 10 years of volunteering with the Army Cadet Force I am appealing to my friends and family to help me fundraise for a project I am very passionate about.
I have given myself a fundraising goal to help raise funds towards Exercise Aphrodites' Eagle 2019.
An expedition for 48 Army Cadets from across Derbyshire to visit The 2nd Batallion Mercian Regiment, our local regiment.
The expedition will give cadets once in a lifetime opportunities to train with local regular soldiers, visit cultural sites across Cyprus including Kourion Ampitheatres, Paphos' Archaelogical Park, Troodos Mountains, UN Buffer Zone and more.
They will also access Sports and Adventurous Training including Sea Kayaking, Swimming, Mountain Biking, Horse Riding, Diving, Mountain Walking, Athletics, Stand Up Paddleboarding and more!
I am part of a team who are already 12 months into an 18 month planning timeline to make this expedition happen for our cadets!
Our fantastic team of 14 Adult Volunteers are giving up their spare time to fundraise as well so its only right I do my part!
RIGHT..... ONTO MY CHALLENGE
I have been set a challenge by my Commanding Officer to walk the distance of the John O'Groats to Lands End by myself from 1st May until 23rd October - the day we leave for Cyrpus!
Thats 1,777 Kilometres in 175 days! Working out at just over 10 Km a day
I am still building my strength after a knee operation 3 years in my left knee and am trying to fight off the possibility of repeating that operation on the right knee so getting up and doing regular walks will help :)
I have made a good start and will keep this page updated - I am hoping you want to help my cause!
Thank you for reading this far (If you have!)
