We are a group of young theatre professionals and students who have launched an exciting new Exeter-based theatre production company: EVOLVE. EVOLVE wants to put young people at the heart of theatre production providing them with opportunities to grow and learn. And we need your help! We want to initiate a ground-breaking new mentorship program that will allow young people to work alongside industry professionals on all aspects of theatre production. Our first program will be structured around the production and staging of Jonathan Larson's RENT.
About The Company:
EVOLVE Theatre Productions is a new theatre company based in Exeter, Devon founded and run by young people aged 19-29 with expertise in all areas of theatre production. We are the only theatre company in the region that provides young people with the opportunity to gain practical experience and learn directly from theatre industry professionals.
Our one on one mentorship programs cover:
Musical Directing & Vocal Coaching
Lighting & Sound Design
We feel there is a distinct lack of opportunities for young people to be at the forefront of Theatre Companies so EVOLVE was designed to encourage people aged 16-30 to be fully involved and the opportunity to develop their confidence, knowledge and skills.
Our mentorship program will work side by side with our production of RENT. Each professional that we hire as part of our creative and production team will have a mentee who they coach as we go through the process of putting on RENT the musical. Likewise, our actors will have the opportunity to work with a professional director, choreographer, musical director and vocal coach.
How The Money Will Be Spent
All the money raised will be put back into the company and will go towards funding every aspect of the production. There are a number of expenses that come with putting on a show and as a new theatre company, we need to raise enough to hire the venue, pay for costumes, insurance, programs and posters.
As our creative and production team mentors will be comprised of professionals they will need to be paid. Putting on a production is a huge task and alongside this our mentors will also have the added responsibility of teaching their mentee.
