As all my friends know, we adopted Finn, a Ratenero Bodeguero Andaluz from Spanish Stray Dogs UK.
He had spent more than half his life in a Spanish Pound near Cadiz and conditions are tough there. The charity is registered in Scotland although the dogs they rescue can be homed anywhere in Europe.
Finn's story was fairly typical, he was abandoned for no fault of his own, lived on his wits on the streets until he was picked up and taken to Los Barrios Pound where he stayed for 5 years. A failed adoption in England led him to being fostered until we got him. His scars tell a story of many fights, and a damaged leg that no amount of exercise will strengthen.
Folk thought we were mad taking him on but he has turned out to be the most amazing dog, gentle, trusting and very much a mama's boy.
For my 65th birthday (5 years on from the ceilidh we had for my 60th - unbelievably! ) I'd like to support Spanish Stray Dogs so that many more dogs can find a forever home.
Covid has prevented another ceilidh but if you would like to help me celebrate my 65th a wee donation to would be wonderful and hugely appreciated.
