Since 2012 we have been training out of a small 6m x 4m room in the Europa Centre, with sometimes as many as 20 people sharing just 4 training platforms. As a result of this we have not been able to take on any new members, especially youth lifters who will make up the future of our club.
Because of this difficulty arising with space, we have been looking to move to a new premises however there is a severe shortage of suitable venues within our area. Recently we managed to take over an existing Bodybuilding gym and now have the necessary space to create our vision of how the club should be.
We want to have 6 fully equipped platforms in the new gym, which will allow up to 30 lifters to train at the same time and would allow us to run separate youth training sessions simultaneously with the adult section. This will create even more opportunities for young people and adults in Kent to join one of the most successful weightlifting clubs in the Commonwealth.
Because of the size of the new gym we have to purchase an entire new floor and that is what we are raising money towards. We are very grateful for your support in the project.
