I have 16 years experience within the electronic security and fire systems industry, including senior management roles and a management role at a global organisation.
With my experience, I have been able to build up a great knowledge of how the industry works and how competitors price their services. Also, I have been able to gain a great number of connections and already have contacts that are willing to provide me with long term work as a sub-contractor (carrying out installations on their behalf).
The primary focus will be to continue to provide the sub-contract labour to other (non-competitor) companies, whilst I slowly build up my own portfolio of local customers.
With a home office already in place, carrying out the work myself and the use of known, reliable sub-contract labour (meaning they are only an overhead as and when required, as opposed to a full time overhead), the costs of running the business are minimal. Therefore, I am able to offer high end equipment with exceptional service at a very low and affordable cost. I will also be offering discounts to emergency services staff, armed forces and potentially other members of the community.
The way that the industry works, with regards to sub-contracting, is that a month of work will be carried out before it is invoiced, then the invoice will be paid between 30 and 90 days later. The money raised from this will pay for the initial cost of the vehicle lease and for running costs whilst I await the first invoice payment - I already have long-term work promised for me and 1 other person (who I will.make profit from)
