Enriching our Children's Cooking Experiences is a project the Parent and Staff Association are working on for the school. We have a rather underutilised and under resourced cooking area, which the school would love to smarten up and make it a more usable resource and also to engage with the local community through this. It will be a huge benefit in terms of a learning resource for the school and will greatly aid the children in learning about healthy eating, the importance of being involved with the community within which we are based and how our food choices can shape our health.
We are very much a community based school and this will also be of benefit to the local area - some of our older children currently cook some items from scratch to share with some of our elderly residents in the community even with the very limited resources that we currently have. To get the project underway, we need some investment in both children's sized cooking equipment and adult sized items, aprons, scales, laminated recipe cards, baking equipment and cooking utensils. It will be such an amazing learning resource for the school and these skills will last our children for life!
