We did it
On 12th February 2021 we successfully raised £4,379 ( + est. £962.25 Gift Aid ) with 30 supporters in 28 days

Our aim is to reduce the digital divide for Calderdale children by ensuring that every pupil has access to a lap top and to the internet.

by The Valley Learning Partnership and schools across Calderdale in Halifax, England, United Kingdom

New stretch target

The more money we raise the more children across Calderdale we can help to have access to remote learning during the pandemic and beyond. Digital devices and internet access will help pupils and students to participate in a meaningful way in the lessons prepared by their teachers and to have access to the wealth of resources being made available to help children learn on line when they cannot attend lessons face to face.

The Valley Learning Partnership is a group of schools across Calderdale who work together to share ideas and resources and to train and develop staff. Our members are Brighouse High School, The Brooksbank School, Moorside Community Primary School, Savile Park Primary School and Withinfields Primary School. We are supporting Calderdale Council and the Laptops for Learning Project to raise funds for the children across the borough who currently cannot access online learning because they do not have a suitable device or a reliable internet service. Money from the different fund raising schemes will be combined to purchase laptops and internet access for primary and secondary pupils who have been identified by their schools as needing support.

We know that the best way for children to learn is face to face in a school where they can interact with their peers, teachers and support staff. Covid is not allowing this to happen for all children at the moment so we are turning attention to find ways to ensure that the quality of education remains high even when pupils are accessing lessons at home.

To do this we need you to help by donating or raising funds to help buy lap tops and internet devices which pupils can use in their homes to access the lessons that have been prepared by their teachers. We are aiming to collaborate with The Community Foundation for Calderdale and other fund raisers locally to address this digital divide.

Funds raised by The Valley Partnership will be used  to purchase laptop computers and 4G dongles for wifi access. We estimate that £280 will buy a device with internet access to allow an individual pupil or family to access learning from home. Please support our campaign; you can help make a difference.
