This page is dedicated to the life and memory of Elishia Paige Donnellan – our Ellie, who, at just 23, passed away after a courageous three-year fight against Ewing's Sarcoma (a rare type of bone cancer). Throughout her treatment, Ellie – a mum to Caelan, for whom she fought for so long; a daughter; a sister; a friend – remained courageous, determined, and unforgettable.
Even from her hospital bed, surrounded by brushes, eye lashes, and make-up palettes, Ellie enjoyed doing makeovers for family, friends, and other patients just to make them feel special.
Though small in size, Ellie was massive in heart, and in spirit. Whether touching hearts through humour, or through her tireless dedication to her son, she lived her life in the best way she knew – Ellie-style. Despite her own struggles, Ellie was determined to help other mums, and their children, to fight. Mummy’s Star remains a charity close to Ellie’s heart, which she wished to continue to support.
Nobody should have to bury their child – nor should a baby lose their mother. This is the reason Ellie fought for so long. We continue to fight for Ellie, as she would have done. Ellie’s legacy of never giving up will be her greatest gift to Caelan. Ellie showed us bravery, strength, and love beyond her too few years.
“The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all.” – Mulan, 1998, Walt Disney Films.
