Help us make Leith Walk a winning by-election and elect Lorna Slater as our second green councillor for the ward.

New stretch target

More money means more leaflets, more posters, more eve of poll cards, and more opportunities to spread the green message! £2,000 will give us the opportunity to do all we can to elect Lorna to the council.

The Leith Walk by-election in Edinburgh on 11 April is the first-ever by-election in a ward where the Greens already have a sitting councillor, Susan Rae.

It is a unique opportunity for us to build support in an area where we are already a strong presence and at a time when high profile issues like public transport, the Brexit fiasco and climate breakdown could not be more pressing.

So it is a by-election where we have a real prospect of electing a second Green councillor – for the first time ever! Lorna Slater is the Green candidate.  But we can only elect Lorna with your help: with your time, your energy and your skills we can make sure our message gets to voters, via door-knocking, leaflets and social media. .

And with your financial support.

The campaign will cost us at least £2,000.  That is why we are asking you to donate what you can towards our initial target of £1,000.

£20 buys 500 eve of poll cards

£50 buys 50 eye-catching window posters

£100 buys 4,000 election leaflets

Our Green candidate Lorna Slater has lived in Leith Walk for 10 years. She is an engineer in the renewable energy industry and well-known activist with the Greens for a number of years. She supported Susan Rae to be elected in 2017 and stood for the area in the UK parliamentary election, also in 2017.

And Edinburgh needs Green councillors to push the SNP-Labour-run council to be much bolder on affordable housing, improving sustainable transport and protecting our precious parks and green spaces. And, with the Tories and Lib Dems out of the running in Leith Walk, another Green councillor will make so much more difference than someone from SNP or Labour who will simply have to toe the party line.

So every Green vote counts in this election.  If just 1 in 3 people give Lorna their #1 vote, that should see Lorna elected as a new Green councillor for Leith Walk alongside Susan Rae.  And with your backing we can make that happen.

Let's make 'Elect Lorna for Leith Walk!' happen
