Hi there!
So my dog Eko, is 10 years old and is the most important thing to me. He is a Labrador/dauchsund cross and is the silliest and most gentle of dogs.
I suffer from anxiety and endometriosis, both which are exhausting and invisible illnesses. Eko, has saved me from these in the sense that he has been my constant support. When I was commuting on the train for my work, he was there. When I was stuck for hours at train stations or squished onto carriages, he was with me. Keeping me calm and there to stop panic attacks. I don't know what I'd have done without him.
With my endo, I am in constant pain throughout the month and nothing really touches it. But Eko knows and curls up with me. Licks my hand and is a pretty useful hot water bottle. He is my best friend and companion. He's not just my dog, he is my family.
Recently after taking him to the vets for a check up after him not being himself for a few days, a lump was found on his thyroid. After further results and tests, unfortunately it was found to be malignant. We have been referred to specialists and further exams and surgery is required. We have insurance but it won't cover the cost of the procedures needed. I won't give up on him as he never gives up on me.
For those of you who have met Eko, you know how much of a soft, loveable, odd dog he is. And if you haven't, he is the best dog I could ask for. I want him to have the best chance and the best care.
