Eden Valley's towns and villages need a digital strategy to market the valley's potential for new residents and tourists.

I retired to Eden Valley in August 2017 after a career in communications and digital marketing. After six months finding my feet I could see the valley was not communicating its beauty and potential in and beyond the valley. The valley's three towns, Penrith, Appleby and Kirkby Stephen, and their surrounding villages, were not working together on a single digital plan to bring people to the valley.

As in many rural communities the benefits a digital strategy can offer is not well understood. I started to develop a strategy for my new home town Appleby, implementing what I could to demonstrate its potential. This has been a success and interest in the approach is taking hold in the wider community across Eden Valley.

The outcomes from this work is an open source valley wide events calendar that can be displayed in tourist related websites such as hotels and B&Bs providing their potential customers with better insight to what the valley has to offer.

To develop this further I now need to communicate the services across the valley and support the local organisations and traders with free digital support. In the valley's shop windows, public buildings, pubs and cafes I need to place QR Code posters to reach more people and implement a responsive website to support all device types.

For this I need money to cover the cost of print quality photographs, printing costs, licence fees for the Adobe Cloud development tools and money to cover phone and transport costs.

Let's make 'Eden Valley's Digital Strategy' happen
