The EcoSwap Community Hub will provide the community with resources required to reduce plastic and textile waste in various ways....
Our main aim is to provide workshops for children and their parents/carers during the school holidays completely FREE OF CHARGE. These sessions will include activities such as ceramic painting, woodwork, gardening skills, painting and sewing and will be supported by other local organisations. The purpose of each session is to demonstrate useful life skills as well as educating children and their parents about the impact of plastic and textile waste on the environment.
Tuesday to Saturday 9.30am to 2.30pm we will provide equipment and reclaimed materials for the local community to utilise to recycle, repurpose and repair their items which would otherwise be thrown away. There will also be workshops for the community to learn how broken or end of life items can be transformed into new usable items that reduce the quantity of waste entering the UK system.
There will also be the provision of zero waste and sustainable products which will be available on a donation basis to ensure everyone can afford good quality, low waste products. The community can bring their own containers or adopt one of ours to bring back time and again when they need to refill.
Income information - for ongoing costs we plan to raise income through multiple streams as listed below.
Donations - we shall be fundraising through events and activities to raise funds.
Stock sales - we shall, as a community, make products from recycled materials to sell to generate income and we will also look to make a profit on selling sustainable/zero waste products.
Workshops - we shall be running educational workshops for adults for which we will charge a fee.
Rental income - we shall be hiring our premises out to other community groups on an hourly basis for the use of workshops, meetings and classes.
