Greetings, my name is Esther St Phillipe, I started off working and studying in nineteen eighty-six at prestigious hair and beauty salons in London's Mayfair namely Edwardes Hair and beauty salon at the Grosvenor House Hotel and Splinters hair caretakers, Maddox Street. I used to visit my aunt's salon where she would undertake services for the African diaspora and European Caucasian clients.
I was about ten years old when I used to receive briefs via my aunt on the technical aspects of hairdressing for diverse clients. As part of the education I attended the London College of Fashion to study the theory and some practical aspects of hair and beauty. this was year 86. After studying I went to work for Parfums Christian Dior as a Mobile Rotator Beauty Consultant I went on to work as an Account manager for Yves Saint Laurent.
It was then my wish to start my own business. I attended a business course at the London Enterprise Agency, As a twenty-two-year-old, I met the criteria to apply for sponsorship by the Prince of Wales Princes Youth Business Trust. I submitted a business plan and attended a meeting where I produced a portfolio of photographic makeup, I also gave a presentation to the board of panelists I was successful with my application and was awarded a bursary.
The bursary enabled me to purchase a makeup kit. I worked as a resident makeup artist at a model agency/ photographic makeover studio. Educationally I am a qualified makeup artist/ hairdresser and junior wig mistress with beauty therapy training. I have also been awarded diplomas based on competition makeup at collegiate, regional and national levels.
My knowledge has allowed me to work alongside celebrities such as Julia Morley the Miss World organization Chairwoman, Patti Boulaye and June Brown to name but a few. My experience has led me to work on various editorials' music videos. a soap opera and fashion shows.
My objective via education and research is to launch a cosmetics line that understands and embraces our colour differences. There are very few companies based in the UK that market products for diverse colour tones. It is my hope that I will be able to satisfy the consumer demands of the rather diverse UK the Commonwealth and beyond.
