New stretch target

If we raise above our target this will enable us to fully complete our extension works and buy gymnastics apparatus to equip it.

About Us

Dumfries Y Gymnastics Club was formed in 1977 and currently has around 300 members who come from across Dumfries and Galloway. Our gymnasts range in age from 6-weeks old to 16 years old. The Club is fully affiliated to the Scottish Gymnastics Association, the national governing body for the sport in Scotland. We became a registered charity in July 2017.

We were finalists in the £25,000 category of the Aviva Community Fund in 2017 and 2018 but unfortunately did not win one of the prizes.

We were recently crowned the prestigious title of "Scottish Gymnastics Club of the Year 2019".

Gymnastics is a sport which can enhance the health and wellbeing of all children and young people. It provides an environment which promotes fitness, health, discipline, focus, team working and general community engagement through display work and funding projects.

Our Expansion Plan

We moved into our own premises in November 2017 and due to the rapid growth of Club we need to expand our training area and welfare facilities. We have secured the lease of the adjoining building and have started renovation works to extend through to provide further facilities.

At peak times, when parents are dropping off and collecting their children, the gym becomes crowded which is a health and safety concern. Our expansion plan will provide a new entrance and reception area. There will be an area where spectators can watch the gymnasts via video link therefore eliminating the associated hazards of spectators in our training area and distraction for our gymnasts.

Within the extension there will be a dedicated warm up, training and conditioning area. This will allow our gymnasts to warm up and stretch before classes start.

At present, our gymnasts and coaches eat their snacks and lunches sitting on mats on the gym floor. The kitchen and dining area will provide them with facilities to store their lunches under refrigerated conditions and to eat their lunches at a table.

Parents of our gymnasts are looking forward to the extension being completed so that they can sit in comfort in the waiting area while their children are training and there will be facilities for them to make hot drinks.

We currently only have one male and one female toilet which is insufficient. Our gymnasts are spending valuable training time off the floor queuing to use the toilet. Our extended premises will provide additional male, female and disabled toilet facilities as well as a toilet facility for parents.

How We Will Use the Money Raised

The money raised will be used to complete our kitchen, dining and toilet facilities.
