Drama Express is a Cornish based project for young people with additional support needs who have a keen interest in the performing arts. The specialist support through the volunteer team ensures any initial anxieties are overcome as the young people are introduced to drama express through attending workshops. In developing the confidence and potential of each young person there is a natural progression to perform on stage. Recent productions have taken place at the Minack Theatre and Port Elliot Festival leaving audiences captivated by the determination of each young person. In May 2018 Drama Express reached the finals of the National Autism and Learning disability awards. It is crucial that all performers have access to technology which will enhance the quality of performances. Such technology includes 'headset' type microphones with mixing equipment. We want every young person to be included in performances recognising that there is a need to amplify some of our quieter members. Sound equipment will be vital in ensuring drama express can reach more people through performing at a greater range of venues throughout Cornwall.
